Patrick is entering his second year coaching in the program, and his first as sophomore head coach, coming to Mercer Island from Ithaca, New York for the 2010-2011 school year. He is honored to be a part of the Islander program and enjoys working with his fellow coaches, the players, and their families. Basketball has always been Patrick's obsession, from his childhood in Iowa idolizing Larry Bird to the present day. With a focus on player development, work ethic and fundamentals, Patrick's goals for the sophomore team are to help his players maximize their talents and appreciate the tremendous opportunity they have representing Mercer Island Basketball.
Patrick teaches English and Social Studies at Crest Learning Center, Mercer Island High School's alternative program. He earned his BA in History and Secondary Social Studies Education at the University of Iowa and received his MSEd in History from the State University of New York: College at Cortland. In addition to teaching and coaching, Patrick is also working toward his National Board Certification this school year.
Patrick resides in Seattle with his lovely wife, Dr. Sarah Zanders, their golden retriever Pumpkin, and their cat Butters. An avid sports fan, he is fiercely devoted to the Boston Celtics and Nebraska Cornhuskers (Go Big Red!).
