| Coach Tempest returns to the Mercer Island coaching staff for his third year as the defensive coordinator. Kevin grew up on Mercer Island, developing his game in the Eastside Traveling League and Saturday Little Dribblers. He has served as a camp counselor at the Islander hoop camp for several years and has been heavily involved in coaching during summer leagues and tournaments. He played at Mercer Island from 1998-2002 under Coach Ed Pepple, and was a member of two Kingco championship teams, reaching the state semifinals in 2001 and 2002 including a place in the state championship game in 2002 against a Rainier Beach team led by Nate Robinson. Kevin played college basketball at Lehigh University, participating in the NCAA tournament in 2004. Kevin is currently seeking his PhD in Chemical Oceanography from the University of Washington after receiving his Master's degree last year. Kevin has enjoyed being a part of the development process of individual players and teams and is looking forward to continuing the proud tradition of the Islander basketball program. |
