The Islanders teams and families gathered on March 21st to review the season and celebrate the success each team enjoyed and earned this season.
The freshmen had a strong season, ending with a 13-7 record with Coach Cohn raving about the progress made by all the boys this season with Will Shanahan came away with the Sub-Varsity most improved player award. The sophomore team started slowly, picking up two losses in the first 5 games, but then finished the season winning 13 of 14. Josh Stenberg who led the team in scoring, assists and was second in rebounding.
The JV ripped off another successful season, compiling a 17-3 record beating their opponents by an average of over 25 points. The team was not able to practice together a great deal, with half the team practicing with Varsity and half with the Sophomores, but it didn't show on the court where the team played together extremely well.
The Varsity team celebrated a 22-4 record and the first KingCo Championship in 8 years. Coach Cree commended the eight departing seniors for their leadership, commitment and teamwork in the drive for the league championship. The juniors and sophomores also contributed significantly to the success of the team with several jumping from the Sophomore team last season to play important roles. Scoring was led by the returning lettermen from last season: Joe Rasmussen, Nick Nordale and Kaleb Warner. Those three set some Islander records this season:
- 6th in career rebounds (Joe with 542)
- 10th in career 3-point percentage (Nick with 39.2%)
- 7th in single-season 3-point percentage (Nick with 45.8%)
